Stop Press - Our latest information is here!

If you'd like to sponsor our shows, and, in all cases we'd be very grateful, you can use the button below to easily donate via Paypal.  It's just £5 for an individual to sponsor a class.  Please select the 'Friends & Family' option, that way, our charities will get all of the money, and not Paypal!

Stall Holders - At all of our shows, please enquire - we will either deal with your request ourselves, or, we will put you in touch with the relevant contacts if necessary.

Where possible - we will give sponsorship credit in the poster we prepare and display before and at each event.

02/07/17 - Thank you for supporting us yesterday.  The dog show raised £336 for St John the Baptist Hellidon, Fabric and Organ Trust.  Special thanks to Vicky who judged for us, Kitty and Kat who stewarded, and of course, all of you who participated in the dog show.  I'm pleased to say that the weather was brilliant today,  and Hellidon is a magical place for a dog show when the weather is as good as it was today.  Thank you all.
Here is a link to a few photos that were taken at the show, and here is a link to a document containing the details of those who qualified for our Champion of Champions event, to be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on  Sunday, 28th January 2018.

23/06/17 - It's just one week now, until the Heart of England Dog Shows Companion Dog Show, as part of Hellidon Fete, Northamptonshire, on 1st July 2017.  Here is a link to the schedule for the dog show.

20/06/17 - We’ve just heard from the Kennel Club (KC), regarding the SCRUFFTS Heats they held at our Companion Dog Show (CDS) at Priors Marston, Warwickshire, on Saturday, 17th June 2017, and they made £167.80.

By my reckoning, when added to the £495 we made at the CDS, that means that the total amount made by the event is £662.80.

The Kennel Club’s Charitable Trust will benefit by £83.90, and Priors Sports Club by £578.90.

18/06/17 - The Pointers in Need Companion Dog Show, as part of the Finnish Lapphund Weekend, at Priors Marston Warwickshire, is TODAY - Sunday, 18th June 2017. Booking in is from 11:30am, and judging is from 1:00pm. Here is a link to the schedule

17/06/17 - Thank you for supporting us today at Priors Marston, Warwickshire. I'd like to thank our judges, Tate Forsey and Kat Mozdzynski, for working so hard in the sun, and our stewards Bill and Karen for supporting them. Also thank you to Shelley & Claire who helped me with the booking in. Thank you to everybody else who helped, supported and participated, much appreciated.

We had 109 dogs entered into the CDS today, and SCRUFFTS looked busy. You all raised £495, plus whatever the Kennel Club raised at SCRUFFTS (we'll need to contact them to work this out), which is brilliant. I'm sure the Kennel Club's Charitable Trust and Priors Sports Club will be very grateful.

Here is a link to a document containing details of those who qualified at today's Companion Dog Show, for our Champion of Champions event, to be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on 28th January 2018.  Please check the details and let me know if any amendments are required.

Here are a few photos of today's show.

16/06/17 - The Heart of England Dog Shows Companion Dog Show, plus SCRUFFTS Heats, as part of the Finnish Lapphund Weekend, at Priors Marston Warwickshire, is TOMORROW - Saturday, 17th June 2017. Booking in is from 11:00am, and judging is from 1:00pm. Here is a link to the schedule

10/06/17 - Thank you for supporting us at today's Fun Dog Show.

In total, £666.73 was raised for Newlands House, a Leonard Cheshire Disability Home, in Netherseal, Derbyshire, from the Dog Show, and, gratefully received donations.

Thanks to Tracey Ison, for judging today's event - Tracey did a sterling job and we hope she enjoyed her day. Thank you also, to Jackie & Roger Hart, for working so hard both today at the show, and, raising much needed sponsorship beforehand.  I was very impressed by both the special prizes and medals that were awarded

As promised, here is a document detailing those dogs and handlers who qualified at today’s Fun Dog Show (FDS), for our 2017 Champion of Champions Event, to be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 28th January 2018. Qualifiers will have received a ‘Golden Envelope’, containing an invitation to the Champions Event.

Here is a link to a few photos of today’s show.

09/06/17 - Our next event, a Fun Dog Show as part of Newlands House Fete, Netherseal, Derbyshire, is TOMORROW, on Saturday, 10th June 2017. Here is a flyer for the fete, and also, a poster celebrating our sponsors. Many thanks to Jackie Hart, who has worked so hard to get the vast majority of the sponsorship in place - it's taken a lot of pressure off me and Brian, so thank you Jackie. Here is a link to the dog show schedule.

31/05/17 - Jackie Hart has just sent me these photographs, of the Best in Show rosettes, designed and produced by Justina Evans, at Grand Rosettes, Medals and Golden Envelopes that our Judge will award, at our Fun Dog Show at Newlands House Fete, Netherseal, Derbyshire, on 10th June 2017.

16/05/17 - Thank you for your support over the last nine or ten years or so, but, Heart of England Dog Shows are bidding you all adieu.

We’ve struggled big time for sponsorship and help on an enormous level recently, and, whilst our shows have been well attended and well supported, which is brilliant, Brian & I can no longer continue as we have in the past.

Thank you to those who have funded and helped at our shows over the years – it’s been brilliant, and, for the most part, we’ve had a lot of fun.

We will fulfil our outstanding commitments, so, our upcoming shows, including our Champion of Champions event in January 2018, will occur as planned.

Going forward, we may still do the odd show, but, the days of us running several events throughout each year will not extend beyond 2017.  Thank you.

14/05/17 - Brian & I had a brilliant time judging the Pawprints Dog Rescue Fun Dog Show today.  We also gave out Golden Envelopes, each containing an invitation to our Champion of Champions Event, to be held on Sunday, 28th January 2018, at Daventry Community Centre.  Here is an updated document containing details of today's winners.  Please check the details are correct, and advise me of any discrepancies.

13/05/17 - Heart of England Dog Shows are doing a Companion Dog Show, plus SCRUFFTS Heats, as part of the Finnish Lapphund Weekend, at Priors Marston Warwickshire, on Saurday, 17th June 2017. Booking in is from 11:00am, and judging is from 1:00pm. Here is a link to the schedule

12/05/17 - Pointers in Need are doing a Companion Dog Show, as part of the Finnish Lapphund Weekend, at Priors Marston Warwickshire, on Sunday, 18th June 2017. Booking in is from 11:30am, and judging is from 1:00pm. Here is a link to the schedule

12/05/17 - Just a note to say that we won’t be doing raffles at our indoor shows in October and December 2017, as we no longer have anybody to run them.  Thank you all for your raffle contributions over the past several years – I’m sure our charities are very grateful for the moneys raised.  (As you all know, we don’t do raffles etc., at our outdoor shows.)

We will still be doing our indoor ‘Name the toy dog’ contest, however, so hopefully Sarah will be able to work her magic getting you all to have a go!

We will also be doing our indoor photo competitions (on the reverse of the schedules), and there may also be the occasional ‘fund raiser’.

As I now find myself unexpectedly short of help with the booking in, any help anybody would be able to offer, at our outdoor and indoor shows, would be very welcome indeed. If I don't get sufficient offers of help, the shows won't go ahead, as I can't do it all alone. I am particularly looking for help with the booking in at the following shows:

Priors Marston CDS - Saturday, 17th June 2017 (outdoors)
Hellidon CDS - Saturday, 1st July 2017 (outdoors)
Daventry CDS - Sunday, 29th October 2017 (indoors)
Daventry CDS - Sunday, 17th December 2017 (indoors)

Here is a link to our dog show pages.  Thank you in advance.

02/05/17 - As promised, here is a document detailing those dogs and handlers who qualified at yesterday’s Companion Dog Show (CDS), for our 2017 Champion of Champions Event, to be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 28th January 2018.  Qualifiers will have received a ‘Golden Envelope’, containing an invitation to the Champions Event.

Please check the details and let me know if there are any discrepancies.

01/05/17 - Thank you for supporting us today. The total amount raised was £659.50, which is brilliant!! Especially considering that we don't do any peripheral activities at our outdoor shows, such as a raffle or a photo competition. We had over 120 dogs entered today which is absolutely fantastic.

The proceeds of Waggy Tail and the CDC class, the Sports Club's Choice, go to Priors Sports Club - a fantastic venue, and, the rest of the proceeds will go to Pawprints Dog Rescue.

Here is a link to a few photos.

01/05/17 - Our next event, a Fairy Tale themed, Kennel Club licensed Companion Dog Show (CDS) at Priors Sports Club, Warwickshire, on Bank Holiday Monday, is TODAY, 1st May 2017.  Here is a link to the schedule for the dog show.

12/04/17 - In addition to our own shows, Golden Envelopes, containing an invitation to our Champion of Champions Event on Sunday, 28th January 2018, will be on offer at two non-Heart of England Dog Shows events.  These are firstly, the Pawprints Fun dog show on 14th May 2017, which willl be held at Fenley Field, Lime Tree Avenue, Rugby, Warwickshire CV22 7QT, from 10:00 until 17:00.  And secondly, the Pointers In Need (PIN) Companion Dog Show (CDS), on Sunday, 18th June 2017.

06/04/17 - Well, I'm very pleased to say that the Daventry Express used four of our photos in the paper, and, most of Brian's text, relating to our Companion Dog Show (CDS) at Daventry Community Centre, on Sunday, 26th March 2017. Here is a photo of the article:

28/03/17 - Our next event is an outdoor, Kennel Club licensed Companion Dog Show (CDS) at Priors Sports Club, Warwickshire, on Bank Holiday Monday, 1st May 2017.

We are looking for sponsors for this show - it's just £5 for an individual or business to sponsor a class, or £5 to book a stall at the event (please note that we do not supply any infrastructure items such as tables, chairs or gazebos).

You can use the Paypal link above, and a schedule for the dog show can also be found here.

27/03/17 - Thank you to Marie & Bill for sponsoring and running the 'Name the Flowers' competition at our CDS at Daventry Community Centre yesterday.   Here are the results:

1st - Becci Lane-Johnson chose vase no. 2 - Fuchsia Pink Blossoms.

2nd - Sue Lowe chose vase no. 4 - Pale Pink Peonies, Sweetpeas, & Double Tulips.

3rd - Ronnie Harris chose vase no. 3 - Fuchsia Pink Tiger Lilies.

4th - Rachel Hukin chose vase no. 1 - Pale Pink Peonies, Seed Head/Peony Seeds, & White Wisteria.

5th - Caroline Loughman won vase no. 5 (set of two small vases) - Narcissi/Daffodils, & White Astrantia.

Finally, Thank you to Annette Taylor who offered to judge each arrangement.  Her comments are as follows:

Vase 1 - Blooming, Vase 2 - Lovely, Vase 3 - Beautiful, Vase 4 - Pretty,  Vase 5 - Very nice.

Here is a photo of the beautiful vase of flowers I won, Vase Number 4.

27/03/17 - Please note that we have decided that going forward, our events at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, will open half an hour earlier – at 11:00 am, and, judging will also start half an hour earlier – at 12:30 pm.  At the moment, the affected events are our Companion Dog Shows (CDS) on Sunday, 29th October 2017, and Sunday, 17th December 2017.  Here is a link to the dog shows page of our website.

It’s always worth checking what the start times are, as sometimes they do differ – this includes our outdoor events also.

27/03/17 - As promised, here is a document detailing those dogs and handlers who qualified at yesterday’s Companion Dog Show (CDS), for our 2017 Champion of Champions Event, to be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 28th January 2018.  Qualifiers will have received a ‘Golden Envelope’, containing an invitation to the Champions Event.

Please check the details and let me know if there are any discrepancies.

26/03/17 - Thank you for supporting us today.  I’m very pleased to be able to let you know that the dog show, photo competition, raffle, name the dog competition, cash lotto and donations, all raised £846.70.  This means that, Breast Cancer Now & Daventry Community Centre, will each receive £423.35 each, as a result of these activities.

In addition, Kim Gilder, thanks to a daring and amazing fancy dress outfit (yes she and her dog won today!), has raised £215 for Breast Cancer Now – which is an amazing amount, and, Marie & Bill Botten’s fantastic ‘Name the Flowers’ competition, raised £86, also for Breast Cancer Now.  Breast Cancer Now will receive a total of £724.35 as an overall total.

Emily Lane did a great job, raising money for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of her Grandmother, Josie Lane, who tragically lost her life to heart disease towards the end of 2016.  Emily raised a huge £120 – well done Emily.

This means that, overall, a huge £1,267.70 was raised for charity at today’s event.

Thank you everybody – it just goes to show what we can do when we all pull together for worthy causes; we hope you managed to enjoy the event too!

25/03/17 - Our next event, a CDS to benefit Breast Cancer Now & Daventry Community Centre, at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, is TOMORROW - on Sunday, 26th March 2017.

22/03/17 - During the last few shows at Daventry Community Centre, there have been a number of incidents, and so, we’ve decided that the stage, and the steps leading up to the stage, will be off-limits to exhibitors and their dogs, at our show on 26th March 2017, and beyond.

We will ensure that ‘no entry’ signs are erected, and these must be respected – no exhibitors or dogs will be allowed beyond the signs.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.

20/03/17 - Another sponsor ...

20/03/17 -
It's just a few days now, until our next event, a Pink-themed Kennel Club licensed Companion Dog Show (CDS), at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 26th March 2017. The show will benefit Breast Cancer Now, and Daventry Community Centre.

Mary Wilde is generously sponsoring a tropy, which will be awarded by our judge to the winner of the Rescue/Rehome class.  Here is a photo:

12/03/17 - I've updated our dog shows page with a lot of new schedules.  Have a look!

12/03/17 - I’ve just updated our dog shows page with four confirmed dates, and, I’ve also prepared a schedule for the Champs event next January.

In the interests of clarity, I will maintain a document which will contain details of the qualifiers for next January’s Champs event as we go through 2017, and will post a link to the updated information after each show.

12/03/17 - Marie has kindly offered to run an activity called ‘Name the flowers in each vase’, at our next event, a Companion Dog Show (CDS) to benefit Breast Cancer Now & Daventry Community Centre, at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 26th March 2017, which is only two weeks away now.

There will be five vases of faux flowers, each containing an arrangement of pink blooms and foliage.  The idea is for participants to try and guess the identity of the flowers in each vase.  The cost will be £2 per attempt, and five lucky winners will receive the beautiful arrangements.

As a recipient of an arrangement of red hydrangeas at a previous show, I can certainly say the floral arrangements are superb.  Here is a photo of my arrangement of red blooms – to give you an idea of the pink creations that will be revealed at our next show!

02/03/17 - Well, I know we said we had no plans to repeat the Champion of Champions initiative, but, as it seemed to work so well last time – with our reformatted approach of just having the one event on the day – we’ve decided to repeat it.

Our next Champs event will be on a Sunday, towards the end of January 2018.  I will post the confirmed date as soon as it is available.  We anticipate that the Champs event will be indoors, at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire.

And so, golden envelopes, containing an invitation to our next Champs Event, will be available to win at Heart of England Dog Shows events throughout 2017 (plus one or two others).  The first opportunity to win a golden envelope will be at our CDS on Sunday, 26th March 2017, at Daventry Community Centre.

We’ve decided to include ‘Waggiest Tail’ in this year’s qualifying classes, and so, the classes that will result in the winner being awarded a golden envelope, are as follows.

Pedigree Puppy (or Yearling – depending on the age of the dog at the Champs event)
Pedigree Best in Show & Reserve

Novelty Best in Show & Reserve
Cutest Puppy (or Yearling – depending on the age of the dog at the Champs event)
Veteran
Fancy Dress
Trick
Condition
Rescue/Rehome
Crossbreed
Movement
Waggiest Tail

02/03/17 - Just a few weeks now until our next event, a Companion Dog Show (CDS), to benefit and Daventry Community Centre, at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 26th March 2017.

Here are a couple of photos of the special pink rosettes, which will be awarded by our judge, which have been designed and created by Justina Evans at Grand Rosettes, and kindly sponsored by Marie & Bill Botten.

28/02/17 - Not long now until our next event, an indoor Companion Dog Show (CDS), on Sunday, 26th March 2017, to benefit
and Daventry Community Centre.  Here is a link to the schedule for the dog show, and below is a poster celebrating our sponsors.

30/01/17 - Our extra Companion Dog Show, to benefit and Daventry Community Centre, will be on Sunday, 26th March 2017.  Here is a link to the schedule.

29/01/2017 - Thank you for supporting us today, at our Champion of Champions Event.

We would like to thank Pete Simmons our judge, who did an excellent job - it must have been very hard, and all our qualifiers did incredibly well to take part!

We are very pleased to be able to announce that the Champion of Champions Event, which is only 13 classes long, plus the incredible generosity of Ronnie Harris, who made up and donated such a fantastic hamper of people and doggie goodies, which was raffled off (thank you Sarah Lawless for selling the tickets!), means that a total of £334 was made for Daventry Community Centre.

The Community Centre is a resource that is used by lots of local groups - our dog shows included, and, those of you that remember its previous state will know just how far it has come, in recent years.

Just to also say that Ronnie's hamper was won by a member of Wellingborough Dog Welfare (Wellidog), who, has decided hat the hamper will be raffled all over again - to raise yet more money, this time for Wellidog! Fantastic!

Here is a link to a few photos.

06/01/17 - As promised, here is the list of qualifiers for our Champion of Champions Event, on Sunday, 29th January 2017, at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire.  A few things to note:

1. I am aware of a few (thankfully, not many), dogs who have gone to Rainbow Bridge since qualifying.  One owner, has asked that I remove their treasured furry companion's name from the list, which, of course I have done.  I am aware of three others, and, whilst I have left their names in place, I have included the words 'In loving memory of'.  If this isn't OK, or if there are any other precious furbabies that are no longer with us, please let me know how you would like me to deal with each case.

2. In both the Pedigree and Novelty sections of the event, some dogs have qualified for EITHER the Puppy or Yearling class.  I have included just ONE list in both cases - which class each participant qualifies for will be dealt with on the day of the event.

3. There is one anomaly in the list which pertains to the the Best Novelty Dog or Bitch class (Class 4).  I have included notes against this instance.  This will be dealt with on the day of the event if needs be, or, if by chance the owner concerned reads this, and can shed light on the query beforehand, I will of course clarify the situation prior to the show.

4.  In order to produce the lists, I have attempted to transcribe handwritten entry forms, which, hasn't always been easy!  If there are errors (e.g. spelling) in any of the transcriptions, please let me know and I will rectify the situation.

5.  If any dog, or group of dogs, has/have qualified more than once in a category (e.g. Trick, Movement or Fancy Dress etc.), they will be included once only, in that category.

05/01/17 - Here is a
photo of the gorgeous rosette, that will be awarded to our Pedigree, and also to Novelty Champion of Champions on Sunday, 29th January 2017.

The photo also depicts two trophies - both of which are returnable (the recipients can keep them for just one year), which will be awarded to our Pedigree and Novelty Champion of Champions (donated by Daventry Community Centre, and Brian & I).  Here is a link to a schedule for the Champs Event.

03/01/17 - It’s only a few weeks now, until our next event – the ‘Heart of England Dog Shows Champion of Champions Contest, 2016’, which will be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 29th January 2017.

This event is a little different to our usual dog shows, as, rather than being open to all, it’s ‘entry by invitation only’.  In order to participate, you MUST have qualified at a show in 2016, where, you will have received an invitation, contained within a ‘Golden Envelope’, detailing the class in which your dog has qualified.  Don’t worry if you can’t find your invitation – I have kept records throughout 2016, and I know exactly which dogs have qualified for each class.

I must stress that unlike previous iterations of the 'Champs Event', there WILL NOT BE a Companion Dog Show (CDS) beforehand.  Two main reasons for this - firstly, me and Brian can't do two events on the same day any more, it's just far too much effort and stress; and secondly, the fact that we couldn't give a definite start time for the 'Champs Event' seemed to pose major issues for some participants.  We hope our revised approach will be more acceptable.

Below is a photo of the gorgeous rosettes (they are the size of dinner plates!), which will be awarded to our Pedigree and Novelty Champion of Champions, and Reserve Champion of Champions.  All the rosettes and prizes are kindly sponsored by Butcher’s Pet Care, and, the beautiful rosettes are designed and created by Justina Evans at Grand Rosettes.

Here is a link to the schedule for the Champion of Champions Event.

02/01/2017 - Something for your diaries.  We will be doing an extra Companion Dog Show (CDS), at Daventry Community Centre, to benefit Breast Cancer Now and Daventry Community Centre, sometime in March/April 2017 (most likely on a Sunday).  Bill & Marie Botten have very generously offered to sponsor all of the rosettes, and Bill has agreed to steward at this event.

Once the date is confirmed I will let you all know.

28/12/16 - Raising money for charities and good causes is why me and Brian run dog shows.  We worked out long ago that by investing our meagre available funds in the infrastructure required to facilitate these events, rather than making direct personal donations, we were able to raise much money for charity.

And so, I’m very pleased to be able to let you all know that, with your support, Heart of England Dog Shows events have raised a massive £12,347 during 2016, for various charities and good causes.

This is a huge amount – far more than the two of us could donate personally.  Considering we’re continuing to reduce the number of events we organise (from twenty-five in 2013, to just nine planned for 2017), our annual total raised remains above £12,000, which is brilliant – more than £1,000 per month.  We couldn’t have done any of it without you all - our helpers, supporters and participants.  You should all be very proud of yourselves – your contributions are amazing.

All the best to you all for 2017 and beyond.

27/12/16 - Thank you all for supporting us today. I'm very pleased to be able to let you all know that we raised a total of £1,053. Both Daventry Community Centre, and the Pointer Rescue Service (PRS), will benefit by £376.50.  This is because both the Community Centre, and the PRS, will benefit from half of what we raised at the dog show, the photo competition, the raffle and the name the reindeer competition.  In addition, the PRS will benefit by the £300 raised by Carol and Kerry's very hard work at the PRS-dedicated Tombola.

Thank you everybody, and a very Happy New Year to you all!

27/12/16 - Here is a photo of some of the 'Best In' rosettes, designed and created by Justina, at Grand Rosettes, our judge will be awarding TODAY, Bank Holiday Tuesday, 27th December 2016, at our CDS at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire.

We have a special class just for Pointers, and, also picture the special 'Best Pointer in Show' and 'Oldest Pointer in Show' rosettes, that our judge will award, along with a special trophy that will also be awarded to the winner of the 'Best Pointer in Show' rosette.

In addition to this, our judge, Bill Botten, and his lovely wife Marie, are sponsoring five trophies, that will be awarded to the winners of the following classes - Veteran, Crossbreed, Fancy Dress, Waggy Tail and Movement (all in the Novelty Section).

As it's Christmas, we're also 'doubling up' the 'Golden Envelopes', each containing an invitation to our 'Champion of Champion's Event', also to be held at Daventry Community Centre, on Sunday, 29th January 2017.  This means that there will be 25 chances to qualify for the 'Champs Event' at tomorrow's show.

26/12/16 - Our next event, an indoor, Christmas themed Companion Dog Show (CDS), to benefit the Pointer Rescue Service and Daventry Community Centre, is TOMORROW - on Bank Holiday Tuesday, 27th December 2016.

The event is indoors, and will be held at Daventry Community Centre, Ashby Road, Daventry, Northamptonshire NN11 0QE.

Please see the poster below for more details, and here is a link to a schedule for the dog show.

16/12/16 - In addition to sponsoring all of the rosettes at our Companion Dog Show (CDS), on Bank Holiday Tuesday, 27th December 2016, which will be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire NN11 0QE, Marie and Bill Botten are generously sponsoring five Trophies, which will be awarded to the first placed dogs in the following classes:

Veteran
Crossbreed
Fancy Dress
Waggy Tail
Movement

13/12/16 - Brian will be featured on Radio BBC Northampton’s John Griff Show, TOMORROW, Wednesday, 14th December 2016,  at 2:40 pm, talking about Heart of England Dog Shows and our up-coming Companion Dog Show at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Bank Holiday Tuesday, 27th December 2016.  Please tune in to 104.2 FM or 103.6 FM to listen in!

13/12/16 - As it’s Christmas, we will be ‘doubling up’ the Golden Envelopes our judge will award at our Companion Dog Show (CDS), on Bank Holiday Tuesday, 27th December 2016, at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire.  This event will benefit the Pointer Rescue Service and Daventry Community Centre.

This mean there will be 25 opportunities for your dog(s) to receive an invitation to the Heart of England ‘Champion of Champions’ event, on Sunday, 29th January 2017, also at Daventry Community Centre.

Here is a link to the schedule for our CDS on 27th December 2016.

06/12/16 - We'd like to thank the sponsors of our show on 27th December 2016. Here is a poster, and here is a link to a schedule for the dog show.  Remember that there will be a raffle - please bring a prize or two to contribute.  As a retiree, I can no longer afford to finance the raffle completely alone.  I wish I could, but those days are long gone!!

04/12/16 - The total raised at today’s show, was £1,281.50.  Thank you all for supporting us.

This means that, Daventry Community Centre will receive £363.50, and, Wellingborough Dog Welfare will receive £918.00.  This is because both Daventry Community Centre and Wellingborough Dog Welfare benefit from half of the dog show takings, half of what was made on the raffles, half of the photo competition takings, half of the ‘guess the name of the dog’ takings, and, half of the proceeds of guessing how much was in Sasha’s Money Box.

In addition, Wellingborough dog welfare will also benefit from the £473.50 contained in Sasha’s Money Box, and, also, £81.00 raised by the sale of the Heart of England Dog Show Calendars (Wellidogs already have the £81.00).

We would like to thank everybody involved in today’s show – our Judge Mikki Dewis, who also made a very generous donation, and Karen Anderson, for stewarding.  Marie & Bill Botten for generously offering to run the ‘guess the amount of money in Sasha’s money box’ competition, and even more generously donating the contents (£473.50) to Wellidog – who could guess it would be such a fantastic amount, and the Charlie Bear was lovely, I could even become a collector myself!!

Sue Allen of Wellidog for producing the calendars – a brilliant idea that proved to be very popular!  Michael and Constance Chatt for helping me with the booking in, making such a substantial contribution to the raffle, and also selling the tickets, and, administering the name the dog competition.  Jackie Hart for helping me with the booking in, and Sarah Lawless for helping sell the raffle tickets and name the dog slots, and all that sticking the raffle tickets on the prizes with cellotape :)  (I know there were a lot of prizes, and hence a lot of sticking was required!).  Ronnie Harris for donating the lovely dog bed, and not least you all for supporting such good causes.  Thank you everybody – I’m sure our charities will be very grateful.  It was a really good day.  If I’ve forgotten to name anybody personally please accept my apologies, it’s been a really long if enjoyable day, and I’m really tired!!

04/12/16 - Our next event, an indoor CDS at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, is TODAY - on Sunday, 4th December 2016.

20/11/16 - Michael and Constance Chatt, are set to run the raffle, and also a 'Name the Dog' competition, at our Companion Dog Show (CDS), on 4th December 2016.

We'd like to thank them both for doing this - it's hard work and raises much needed extra funds for our charities. On this occasion, these are Wellingborough Dog Welfare and Daventry Community Centre.

Sarah - we will still need you to sell the raffle tickets!! If you're available of course.

20/11/16 - Marie & Bill have offered to run a ‘Guess the amount of money in Sasha’s Money Box’ competition, at our Companion Dog Show at Daventry Community Centre, on 4th December 2016.

After Sasha went to Rainbow Bridge, Marie & Bill continued to add to Sasha’s money box. It’s £1 per guess, and the proceeds will go to Daventry Community Centre & Wellingborough Dog Welfare.

The contents of Sasha’s money box, will go to Wellingborough Dog Welfare.

Thank you, Marie & Bill, for offering to run this activity at our event on 4th December 2016.

24/10/16 - We're down to the last few regular Heart of England Dog Shows indoor events EVER - please note 30th October, 4th and 27th December 2016 in your diaries. We'll still do the last Champs event, scheduled for 29th January 2017, but, we have no plan to repeat the 'Golden Envelope' initiative. It's been fun people, but, all good things come to an end ...

05/09/16 - Marie & Bill have generously offered to donate £500 to East Midlands Dog Rescue (EMDR) – and have asked Brian & I to add this amount to the £1,301.33 already raised at yesterday’s event.  This means the grand total is now £1,801.33, which is a fantastic amount for a very worthy cause.  Thank you Bill & Marie!

05/09/16 - Fay has just posted on Facebook that yesterday's raffle raised £200, which means that the grand total raised for East Midlands Dog Rescue (EMDR) now stands at £1,301.33!

05/09/16 - We have been asked by Marie & Bill to post the results of the ‘Fastest Recall down Temptation Alley’, that they generously sponsored and hosted at yesterday’s event, at Burbage Common, Leicestershire:

1st Place   -     Suzie, for completing the run in 3.12 seconds.  Owner – Nicky.

2nd Place  -     Sasha, for completing the run in 3.22 seconds.  Owner/Exhibitor – Number 28 (Jenny/Mike).

3rd Place   -     Mila, for completing the run in 3.28 seconds.  Owner – Fay McCallum.

4th Place   -     Gracie, for completing the run in 3.30 seconds.  Owner – Neta Chilton.

The surprise award ‘Digby’ the hound, was for a dog with special needs, and, along came Scout, who managed to trot the full length in an amazing 9.09 seconds.  This is a great achievement for a blind and partially deaf dog.

05/09/16 - Thank you for supporting East Midlands Dog Rescue (EMDR) at Burbage Common yesterday.  I'm very pleased to be able to report that the dog show, donations and Temptation Alley all raised a total of £812.40, which, when added to the fund raising activities of the EMDR crew, makes a grand total of £1,101.33!

'Fastest Recall Down Temptation Alley' was a very popular feature at this event last year, and we look forward to it being repeated!

13/08/16 - Thank you for supporting us today at Rockingham Castle.  We had a massive 210 dogs entered in the SCRUFFTS Heats & CDS, and, we all raised a huge amount - £1,220.37 (subject to Kennel Club (KC) confirmation), for the KC's Charitable Trust, via which many dog related charities will benefit.  The weather was kind - just a bit windy in the morning but it stayed dry which is the main thing!

13/08/16 - Our next event, a CDS and SCRUFFTS Heats, as part of the Kennel Club's International Agility Festival, at Rockingham Castle, Northamptonshire, is TODAY - 13th August 2016.  Here is a link to the schedule.

19/07/16 -
As Brian & I are required to be elsewhere on Sunday, 27th November 2016, we have rearranged the date of the show originally scheduled for that date to the week after - the event will now be on SUNDAY, 4TH DECEMBER 2016.  The venue remains the same- Daventry Community Centre.  Here is a link to the schedule for the dog show.

27/06/16 - Just an update on how much was raised at the dog show on Saturday, 25th June, at Hellidon Fete:  The Kennel Club made £264 from their SCRUFFTS Heats, and so the grand total raised at the dog show is £572 + £264, which makes £836 by my reckoning.  This means that the Kennel Club's Charitable Trust will beneft by £132, and, St John the Baptist Hellidon Fabric & Organ Trust will benefit by £704.

£836 is an amazing amount - especially given the Glastonbury Mud Fest we all had to endure!  Thank you for supporting such good causes.

25/06/16 - Thank you for supporting us today.  We raised a massive £572, with 112 dogs entered; and, we need to add in whatever the Kennel Club raised at their SCRUFFTS Heats today - they left before we could work it all out, so, we'll have to update the overall total next week.  Here are a few photos.

Below are photographs of the special rosettes that are available to win (designed and created by Justina Evans at Grand Rosettes) - and, our judges will be awarding 17 invitations (golden envelopes), to our next Champion of Champions Event.  The trophies pictured below will be awarded to the Best Finnish Lapphund in Show, and the Best Canadian Eskimo Dog in Show.

We are grateful to Karen Anderson and Simon Brown for making these two unique sections of the show possible.

24/02/16 - ATTENTION - Those who have booked a stall at the Heart of England Dog Shows (HOEDS) indoor Companion Dog Show (CDS) on Sunday, 28th February 2016, at Daventry Community Centre:

We have the maximum number of stalls booked at our CDS at Daventry Community Centre this Sunday (28th February), and so would kindly ask that all stall holders restrict themselves to the amount of space they’ve booked and paid for (I am aware there are a few people who have booked, and pay ‘on the day’).

Just as a reminder, it’s £5 per table space (ALL the money goes to charity - Brian & I do not benefit from your attendance). If anybody has booked and isn’t going to be able make the show, please let us know.

As usual, Brian & I will go up to the Community Centre on Saturday evening to lay things out. Please DO NOT move anything on the Sunday, as we will have done our very best to accommodate everybody who has booked (as always, a lot of planning and hard physical work goes into our efforts).

We will aim to be on site for 9:30am on Sunday, so, the arrival of all stallholders AFTER 9:30am would be greatly appreciated – Brian can then direct you to your designated area. (For your information: Booking in is from 11:30am, with judging from 1:00pm (2 hours should be long enough for you to set up your stall).)

Thanks in advance for your understanding!

22/02/16 - Heart of England Dog Shows (HOEDS) will be hosting three SCRUFFTS Heats for the Kennel Club (KC) in 2016. These will be at:

Please note that in all three cases, there will be a SEPARATE entry form for SCRUFFTS Heats. I am highlighting this as this is different to how we’ve run things in the past, when there has been a SINGLE entry form covering everything. I have marked the CDS entry forms accordingly.

03/02/16 - A lovely message from our judge Bill Botten!

I would like to say a big 'Thank You' to Sue & Brian for inviting me to judge one of their special dog shows last Sunday.  It was a pleasure judging the special Pointers' Class, and indeed the overall Pedigree & Novelty classes also.  Most/all of the classes were full to the brim!  I felt torn as to which dog(s) to place because so many superb dogs entered - a credit to all the exhibitors/owners.  At the end of the day, win or lose, you all took the best dog(s) home!

'Thank You' to Karen Anderson for stewarding for me, she did an excellent job.  'Thank You' very much from Marie & I to Sarah Lawless who walked over 500 Miles to sell the raffle tickets!  Sue & Brian, your hard work paid off, for the love of dogs & your favourite breed, in aid of Pointer Rescue Service (one of your beneficiaries) a fantastic sum of money raised.

With Best wishes.  Bill

This is an amazing amount of money, and Brian & I would like to thank everybody for supporting yesterday's event.

Marie's wonderful raffle raised £300.50, which is fantastic.  Thank you Marie, and also Sarah who worked so hard selling the tickets!

13/01/16 - CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS EVENT UPDATE!!

OK, as promised, Brian & I have done a lot of thinking and here are the bullet points re the Champion of Champions (CoC) (otherwise known as the Golden Envelope) initiative for 2016:

There will be one CoC event (which will be 'stand alone', with no preceding Companion Dog Show (CDS)), covering all Heart of England Dog Shows events that occur in 2016 – both indoor and outdoor.  The 2016 CoC event will occur in January, 2017 (date to be confirmed – it will be a Sunday).  There will be special rosettes and annual trophies as before.

Our CDS, on 31st January 2016, will be the first opportunity to win a Golden Envelope going forward.  Here is a schedule for the dog show on 31st January 2016.

We are retiring ‘6 Legs’ as a Novelty class following our show on 31st January 2016, and replacing it with the re-introduction of ‘Trick’ (maximum 2 minutes).

‘Trick’ & ‘Condition’ will be added to the qualifying classes for the CoC event in 2016.

We will review the situation as 2016 progresses.

These are the highlights.  I’ll post a more detailed document as things are confirmed – this will include the rationale behind our decisions for those who are interested.

12/01/16 - Here is a photo of the gorgeous BIS trophies and medals (to be awarded to the winners of the Veteran Class), all sponsored by Marie & Bill, which will be awarded at our CDS at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 31st January 2016.  Our charities this time are the Pointer Rescue Service & Daventry Community Centre.  Here is a link to a schedule for the dog show.

The Veteran Class is in honour of Marie & Bill’s much loved furry companion Sasha, who sadly went to Rainbow Bridge in 2014.  The special bear comes with its very own ‘Kit Bag’, and was dressed at a poppy factory in the UK by a wounded ex-military veteran.

Marie & Bill are also kindly sponsoring medals which will be awarded to the runners up in the Veteran Class on 31st January.

02/12/15 - IMPORTANT NOTICE - Daventry District Council have just introduced a bye law which states that all persons with a dog must carry at least one 'poop bag', or other means via which to clean up after their pet, when in a public place.  Our indoor shows are all held at Daventry Community Centre, which is within Daventry District Council's area.

02/12/15 - A message from Cindy & Sam:

Thank you Sue, Brian & Clorissa for a great show at the Piggeries on Sunday, and the judges for our placings.

We are also looking forward to our 'photo shoot' with Sue Vought Photography,

30/11/15 - Thank you for supporting our joint event with Clorissa Paul's New Beginnings Dog Shows, at the Piggeries in Easton Maudit, Northamptonshire, yesterday.  I'm very pleased to be able to report that our charities will benefit by a total of £614, which means that Wellingborough Dog Welfare and the Pet Blood Bank will each receive £307!

We are having a 'name the polar bear cub' competition at today's event!  Here is a photo!

As always, raising money for charity is our main purpose - on this occasion, the beneficiaries will be Wellingborough Dog Welfare, and the Pet Bloodbank.  And, here is a little reminder, of how things are at our events, and, I would hope ALL events!!

The judges' decisions are always FINAL!!

10/11/15 - Just a note to everybody who has booked a stall at our joint show with Clorissa Paul's New Beginnings,on 29th November 2015, at the Piggeries, Easton Maudit, Northamptonshire:

IF YOU HAVE BOOKED A STALL AND REQUIRE A TABLE - YOU WILL NEED TO SUPPLY THIS YOURSELF, AS TABLES ARE NOT PROVIDED BY THE VENUE.

04/11/15 -After careful consideration, Brian & I have decided that, with the exception of the SCRUFFTS heats we run as part of the Kennel Club's International Agility Festival (IAF) Companion Dog Show (CDS) at Rockingham Castle, we won't be doing any more SCRUFFTS heats going foward.  I can also confirm that the Heart of England Dog Shows (HOEDS) Champion of Champions Events, will not be repeated in 2016.

We'll still be doing a selection of events - see our Dog Show dates and schedules page for details; and do keep an eye on the page, as we update it with schedules and more details as things are confirmed.  Just to give you all an idea of the number of HOEDS events to expect, we'll be running no more than a dozen dog shows in 2016.

12/04/15 - Bill & Marie have just e-mailed me to say they will be sponsoring and managing a 'temptation alley' at our show at Priors Marston in three weeks time on 4th May 2015.  There will be rosettes and certificates - and it does sound exciting - more details to follows!

11/04/15 - I have exciting news!  I'm doing a raffle at our show at Priors Marston on 4th May (Star Wars - May the Fourth be with you LOL!!!!) - and, I have some lovely prizes to be won.  For example - the Thornton's shop in Daventry is brilliant - today, I bought three massive boxes of chocolates (1.5lbs each) for a bargain price (these will be added to our trove!!).  And, I have four bottles of spirits plus several bottles of wine to add into the mix. Plus, some Mrs Bridge's goodies & other delectable treats. I do try to make every aspect of our shows a 'quality experience', and this includes the raffle.  My aim is for all prizes to be something I'd be pleased to win myself.  I hope I'm succeeding.

11/04/15 - The summer season is almost upon us - a huge thank you to who are generously donating dog food prizes at all of our events!

Thankfully, the rosettes are also sponsored by organisations and individuals at most of our events, but we will be looking for rosette/class sponsorship at two or three shows.  So, at this stage, if anybody would like to sponsor a class (or two - I'm ever the optimist!) at our shows at Priors Marston on 13th June, or Hellidon on 27th June, please either use the Paypal link above, or, contact brian@heartofenglanddogshows.co.uk.  It's just £5 to sponsor a class, and I will give credit in the poster I publish both before and on the day of the event.

Thank you to everybody who has already offered to sponsor these two events - your help is much appreciated as always!

As it's the last show in the current indoor series, we've decided to 'double' up the number of Golden Envelopes that our CDS judge will award.  This means that in the pedigree section, in addition to Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show, Reserve to Reserve Best in Show and Reserve Best Puppy in Show will also qualify.  And, in the novelties, there will be a Reserve to Reserve Best in Show award, in addition to Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show, and, the first and second places in Cutest Puppy, Veteran, Rescue/Rehome, Fancy Dress, Movement and Crossbreed will also qualify for the Champion of Champions Event.

At the Champion of Champions Event, extra special rosettes will be awarded by our Judge (whose identity will be revealed on 5th April), and there will be a perpetual annual trophy for our pedigree Champion of Champions and also our novelty Champion of Champions.  The gorgeous rosettes have been designed and created by Justina Bendelow at Grand Rosettes, and are kindly sponsored by who are also generously donating all of the dog food prizes for the Champions Event, and also the CDS which precedes it.  The trophies are sponsored by Daventry Community Association and Brian & I.  Below is a photo.

We also have two new sponsors!  Thank you Clorissa Paul & Wellidog!

26/03/15 - Today was one of those really good days.  First off, are sponsoring ALL of our summer shows.  Thank you Butcher's, this is amazing and very welcome news.

Secondly, we are doing a show at Priors Marston on Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May. The theme is 'May the Fourth be with You - Star Wars' - which is entirely understandable, as opportuities such as this which 'exploit the date' don't come along often!!  We've nearly got all of the details sorted out, but the very good news is that our very good friends at Daventry Veterinary Clinic - Sarah & Bridget - have agreed to sponsor the rosettes at this show (for the Algernon Trust) for the second year running!  Thank you Daventry Veterinary Clinic!

22/03/15 - Saw this today and couldn't resist it for our name the toy competition at our CDS on Sunday, 5th April 2015, at Daventry Community Centre.  Although our show is weather-themed, and I've put together a grid of weather-themed names, it is Spring & Easter and so here is the toy DUCKLING!

03/01/15 - We just received a lovely e-mail from Jackie, whose dog Cindy won Fancy Dress & Reserve Best Novelty in Show at our CDS at Daventry Community Centre on Sunday.  Jackie & Cindy are very happy to have won two golden envelopes at the event, and of course the gorgeous trophy!  Here are a couple of photos!

03/03/15 - Our next event is a British weather-themed CDS at Daventry Community Centre, on Sunday, 5th April 2015. This is the last chance to win a golden envelope, which will qualify your dog to enter the Champions event which will follow on after the CDS (also on 5th April 2015).

30/12/14 - Goodbye 2014 …

As 2014 draws to a close, Brian & I would like to thank you all for supporting Heart of England Dog Shows (HOEDS) this year.  You’ve all helped in so many ways!

I thought the best way to summarise all of our achievements together would be to put a few hard facts out there!

And so, in 2014 -

There were 20 HOEDS events – 3 Fun Shows, 2 Champs events & 15 Kennel Club (KC) licensed Companion Dog Shows
At which, a massive total of £13,630 was raised for many wonderful charities and good causes
This means that we all raised more money at fewer HOEDS events in 2014 (20 shows) than in 2013 (25 shows)
We arranged for 25 different people to judge at our 20 shows (a few of our Companion shows involved more than one judge)
18 of those 25 people were ‘first time’ judges at HOEDS events – we try to ring the changes and none these 18 individuals had ever judged for us before
We ran 3 SCRUFFTS Heats for the Kennel Club – all with brand new judges to HOEDS!
2014 saw the 6th occurrence of both the CDS at the KC’s International Agility Festival and a special Christmas Dog Show at Daventry Community Centre.

We were fortunate enough to have several new helpers – who continue to assist with everything you could think of including administration, stewarding, sponsorship, selling raffle tickets and persuading people to have a go at ‘naming the toy dog’!

All of this is amazing – and very hard work.  None of it would have been possible without the support of you all.  We are tremendously grateful to everybody, and hope you all enjoyed yourselves along the way.

Just to set expectations for the future:

Firstly, in 2015 we already have several events to organise (including three shows with Kennel Club SCRUFFTS Heats).  See this link for details of what’s coming up so far - keep checking as details are likely to change as the year progresses.

Secondly, as many of you are aware, a few months ago, Brian & I decided to cut back on our involvement in organising fun and companion dog shows for charity.  As a result of this decision, it’s likely that there will be somewhere between 12 to 15 HOEDS events in 2015 (a mixture of indoor and outdoor shows).  I’m not going to elaborate on the reasons for our decision here - please PM me if you’re interested.

All the very best for 2015 and beyond to all of you, and your lovely dogs!  We hope to see you at our 2015 shows!

29/12/14 - Thank you for all your support at our Christmas Companion Dog Show yesterday!  I'm very pleased to be able to let you know that you all raised £896 - including £214 from the fantastic raffle managed and sponsored by Marie & Bill.  This is a fantastic sum, which means that our charities, Pawprints Dog Rescue & Daventry Community Centre, will each benefit by £448.  Thank you - and here is a link to the photos!

28/12/14 - We have two special announcements to make regarding our dog show at Daventry Community Centre TODAY, Sunday, 28th December 2014.

The rosettes feature a special picture of Honey & Daisy, Dawn's two much loved pups - and there is a very special story related to the trophy - which is sort of donated by me and Brian, but also Dawn.

We plan on running this special class at the Heart of England Dog Shows event that runs closest to 5th November each year.  The trophy will be 'perpetual', awarded for one year to the winner of the class on an annual basis.  I will complete the story at Sunday's show.  Here are a couple of photos.

08/11/14 - Some very sad news.  A very good friend to me and Brian, and Heart of England Dog Shows, lost her long fight against illness last week.  Dawn Cargill was a wonderful person - bright and smart, definitely one of the 'good guys'.  The world will be an emptier place without her.  We worked with Dawn on several dog shows over the past several years.    Shine bright Dawn.

I wanted to share with you all some really nice memories from a few years ago, which involved our good friend Dawn.

It was our friendship with Dawn that first sparked thoughts of doing the ‘Champion of Champions’ initiatives at Heart of England Dog Shows, and, at the same time first put us in touch with Justina and Mark at Grand Rosettes.

Some years ago now, Dawn asked me and Brian to help run a couple of dog shows she was doing in the Milton Keynes area, and, although it’s a bit further afield than we’d normally go as organisers, we said yes.

As we worked together on organising the events, Dawn gave me a box of spare rosettes that she wanted us to use at future shows.  In the box, there were two very fancy rosettes, one with ‘Champion’ on the tail, and the other ‘Reserve Champion’.

As you all know, in the dog show world, it’s more usual to have ‘Best’ and ‘Reserve Best in Show’ rosettes, and so we started to think about what we could use the ‘Champion’ rosettes for.

At the same time, we needed to find a new rosette supplier, and, as we were very impressed with the quality of the rosettes Dawn had given to us, we got in touch with her supplier - Justina at Grand Rosettes, and the rest, as they say is history.

To cut a long story short, we ended up using the original ‘Champion’ rosettes for something else entirely, a couple of years after Dawn gave them to us – a dog show we did for somebody who is prominent within the ‘horsey’ world.   But the ‘Champions’ rosettes triggered us to start developing the concept of the Heart of England ‘Champion of Champions’ initiatives.  We have just completed the fourth of these series – which culminated in the recent event at Daventry Community Centre last month.  We are also planning a fifth to run throughout the forthcoming indoor series (between November 2014 and April 2015).

If it hadn’t been for Dawn, and the box of rosettes, it’s unlikely that we’d have ever met Justina and Mark, and, the ‘Champions initiatives’ may never have happened either!

Here are a couple of photos – the first is of those original Champions Rosettes, and the second is of me and Dawn working together at a dog show last summer.   She was a fantastic person, and a very good friend – smart, always full of ideas, enthusiastic, fun and vibrant.  We’ll always miss her.

26/10/14 - Thank you to the individuals and stalls who have offered to sponsor classes at our forthcoming indoor Companion Dog Shows at Daventry Community Centre - there are still lots of classes available to sponsor!  If anybody would to sponsor a class or a have a stall - it's £5 for either - please e-mail brian@heartofenglanddogshows.co.uk.  You can pay via the Paypal link above (indicating which show/class you'd prefer to sponsor), or, if it's easier, just pay me or Brian when you see us next.

I will give credit in the poster I prepare before each show, which is publicised on-line before each event, and as a paper poster on the day of the show itself.  Thank you!

23/10/14 - Just a heads up regarding our next couple of shows:  Firstly - we have a Circus-themed indoor Companion Dog Show at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 23rd November.

And secondly, we are jointly organising, with Clorissa Paul, a Christmas-themed indoor Companion Dog Show at The Piggeries, Easton Maudit, Northamptonshire, on Sunday 30th November.

Both dog shows are 'Golden Envelope' events, where the winners of certain classes will qualify for our indoor Champion of Champions event, which will be held at Daventry Community Centre, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 5th April 2015.

20/10/14 - Thank you to everybody who supported our CDS & Champion of Champions event yesterday.  I'm very pleased to be able to let you all know that the event raised £782 in total, which means that our two charities, Wellingborough Dog Welfare (Wellidog) and  Daventry Community Centre, will each receive £391.  It was a great day, and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves.  Here is a link to the photos taken at our Champs Event, and here is a link to the photos taken at the CDS.

We'd like to thank Butcher's Pet Care for donating all of the prizes - for both the CDS and the Champions Event, and for sponsoring all of the gorgeous rosettes, created by Justina Bendelow at Grand Rosettes, that were awarded at our Champs Event.

29/09/14 - The photos from yesterdays Paws Against Cancer Fun Dog Show are here.

29/09/14 - Bill & Marie have asked me to post the following message regarding yesterday's PAC Fun Day:

Dear all

We had joy, we had fun, we had laughter and tears in the sun.  What a fantastic day was had by all at yesterday's show.  Thank you to all who came to support PAC (Paws Against Cancer) Fun Day & Dog show.  Those of you who won a rosette or two and/or a beautiful 'Pointer' trophy, then, that was a bonus too.  A big 'Thank You' & 'Well Done' to Becci Lane-Johnson for all her hard work planning and organising the PAC Fun Day.  Thank you to Simon for the meticulously kept lawn and beautiful venue - it's at the top of our list for the next winning award!  Thank you to Kitty & Karen for stewarding and our happy eating!  Thank you to Sue & Brian for organising the Dog show on behalf of PAC, come rain or shine they always deliver - how good is that!

My favourite part of the show was taking part in judging Class 9 'Dog/bitch with special needs', alongside my handsome husband who nearly died last month, he is not completely out of the woods yet, his treatments are ongoing!  It was so heart breaking listening to the participants and for once we didn't feel like we were the only ones who have been through such a harrowing experience of caring for a terminally ill dog, 'loin des yeux, près du cœur'.  Just as well we had lots of tissues at the ready!!  We hope the winners enjoy all the beautiful gifts & Sashettes in honour of our beloved Sasha.  Bill & I carefully selected those for them & their dogs.  All the participants in that class were winners, and all deserved a Medal - which they were all awarded and happily took home.

Sue & Brian you did a fantastic job as always.  It takes time and dedications to put together a successful dog show with a happy atmosphere.  Thank you again to all of you good people for kindly supporting and taking part showing your dogs, together, we are helping the HOEDS organisers raise lots of money for many good causes.

Such a perfect day, and we are glad we spent it with you!

With love

Marie & Bill xx

29/09/14 - I'd just like to say thank you to an anonymous benefactor - who has donated £45 to round up the total for the PAC show to £1600.  The donation is to remember, Jean, John, Joanne and Jordan.  Thank you. xxx

28/09/14 - OK - we've added it all up and - the grand total for Paws Against Cancer (PAC) today, from the dog show, and Bill & Marie's unbelievable generosity - they more than doubled what the dow show made which is a first for Heart of England Dog Shows and is obviously absolutely brilliant! Is £1555.  That is amazing.

Thank you to everybody who supported the event today, Bill for judging - some of the classes were huge and it couldn't have been easy!  Bill & Marie for getting everything absolutely right again - from the sumptuous late summer picnic lunch, to the lovely medals for our pups, to the special needs class rosettes and prizes - all of it - Marie I think you must be a secret wizard when it comes to knowing exactly how to do everything just exactly right!

Karen & Kitty for stewarding - you both did a brilliant job ladies!  Becci for organising the PAC fun day, Simon who worked so hard today!  Clorissa who did a sterling job with the Bronze Good Citizens - I know you had almost 20 candidates and, most of my friends and their dogs came away with smiles on their faces clutching certificates.

And most importantly - all of you - our wonderful participants - who supported the event - came to the show - entered the classes and hopefully had a brilliant time!  I'm absolutely shattered now - but, I will post more and photos tomorrow.  What a great PINK day!!!

28/09/14 - Becci has arranged for a memorial tree to be planted in remembrance of everyone we've lost to Cancer at TODAY'S PAC Fun Day at Priors Marston - Sunday, 28th September 2014.  Paws Against Cancer (PAC) are working so hard to raise money to find a cure for this horrible illness that affects our friends, relatives and cherished furry companions. We really, really hope to see lots of you there - it should be a fabulous occasion.  Here is a link to the dog show schedule - and we also have a few surprises!

21/09/14 - What a fantastic day at Burbage, with 128 dogs entered into the event.  Our Companion Dog Show, for East Midlands Dog Rescue (EMDR), raised a total of £835.  This is the money that was raised at the dog show, plus the sponsorship money that came in over and above what was needed to pay for the rosettes.  We know there was a raffle, tombola, stalls for EMDR and other donations - I'm sure the grand total will be posted on the EMDR Facebook Page.  Thank you all for supporting us, and this wonderful charity.

We had a great time and hope you all did too.  The EMDR supporters are a fantastic group, they come to lots of Heart of England Dog Shows events and are very generous.  Today, they surprised us with a wonderful personalised present (I will post a photo tomorrow), and a lovely card.

What a great way to spend a Sunday - with friends and raising money for charity.  Can't beat it - Here is a link to the photos.

The paperwork is being posted to the Kennel Club today, so I should receive the licenses shortly.  The first show is on 19th October, at Daventry Community Centre, followed by our 2014 Summer Champion of Champions Event.  There are five more shows between November 2014 and April 2015.  See this link for full details including full schedules.

30/08/14 - Our CDS for East Midlands Dog Rescue at Burbage Common near Hinckley, is on Sunday 21st September, we several stalls booked, and here is a link to the schedule.  Below is a poster acknowledging the organisations and individuals who have kindly sponsored the event.

25/08/14 - Today we had a very special experience, one I've been hoping for for a while now.  Holly & her puppies, Beau & Bliss, were jointly awarded a very special rosette at the Obelisk Dog Show in Northampton - Holly & the pups won Reserve Best in Show today, for their joint achievements at the event.

Thank you to Clorissa for organising the show, and Ema our judge for thinking so highly of our pups!  It really was a fun day out, and such a superb venue for a dog show.

Here is a picture of their extra special Molly rosette - I really wanted to win a special Molly rosette, and red, white and blue is one of my favourite colour combinations.  Thank you!

Little Beau was at least year's event, with his Mummy Holly, but was still waiting to be born.  Holly won a special Merlin rosette last year, and we were absolutely chuffed to bits when Beau was awarded a gorgeous Merin ribbon today.  Here is a picture of Beau's special rosette.

10/08/14 - Great show at Priors Marston yesterday!  It was a bit soggy at times, but the sun also shone and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!  You all raised almost £200 for the Friends of Priors Marston School (FOPS) - this is an amazing amount considering the weather!  A few photos from yesterday's how are here.  Unfortunately, it seems that the camera stopped working after Cutest Puppy; we think some water got into it - luckily it seems fine now.

So, if anybody has any photos of yesterday's show they'd like to add in on Facebook - please feel free.

Thank you to everybody who supported us over the weekend!

09/08/14 - We welcome two new judges to Heart of England Dog Shows at our show tomorrow - at Priors Marston Horse & Dog Show.  Amanda Sutton will be judging the pedigree classes tomorrow; and Katrina Maltby the novelties. Please welcome both new judges to our events!

09/08/14 - Our SPECIAL DOUBLE WEEKEND starts TODAY - with our Companion Dog Show for the Kennel Club, at their International Agility Festival, at Rockingham Castle, Northamptonshire.  Here is a schedule.  On the Sunday, 10th August, we're organising a magic-themed Companion Dog Show as part of Rebecca Phipps's Priors Marston Horse & Dog Show, here is a schedule.  And here are a couple of posters.

03/08/14 - Lovely day today at the Loddington Companion Dog Show.  Holly & the puppies won several rosettes, but the icing on the cake was Holly winning a very big Rescue Class, and the completely unexpected presentation of a very nice trophy and a 12kg bag of Royal Canin Dog Food.  You've still got it Holly!  Good girl.

01/08/14 - It's August already - how did that happen!?!

28/07/14 - If anybody fancies a real challenge in Sweden, at the beginning of next year - check this out.  Sounds a bit full on but it may be of interest!

26/07/14 - A great family double today at the Burton-on-Trent Kennel Association's Companion Dog Show at Overseal - Well done Dad Rhyder on getting Reserve Best in Show, and, well done our superstar little boy Little Beau, on getting Reserve Best Puppy in Show.  Fabulous rosettes - here is a picture of Beau's Reserve Best Puppy in Show ribbon!

23/07/14 - I thought you'd all find this amusing.  Bliss and/or Beau have a penchant for eating £20 notes - they ignore fivers and tenners, but given a sniff of a £20, they spring into action.  The last time they raided Brian's wallet, the situation was irretrievable.  This time, however, they only ate half the note.  We went to the bank, only to be told that we had to fill out a Bank of England Mutilated Note Form from the Post Office, and send it off with the 'evidence'.  We should then wait to see what their decision would be!  Here is the note and form - please see the explanation for the damage -  'Eaten by puppy'.  And, the 'what happened to the missing portion of the note' - 'Eaten by puppy'.  Bad, bad puppy!!!

16/07/14 - Marie & Bill have asked that we post the following message, I'm in tears here.

Dear all

Thank you to all of you good people for your tributes to Sasha and your condolences.

As some of you are aware by now, our beautiful West Highland White Terrier 'Sasha' was terminally ill, there was nothing else that could be done for her.  The Chemo was just to prolong her life and she was in remission for a short while.  We made the decision to stop all treatments because the side effects were taking its toll.  We said our goodbyes to her and helped her to cross over the 'Rainbow Bridge' on Tuesday 15th July 2014.  Lots of silent tears.... When you love someone and they are in pain, then you set them free.

We would like thank Sue & Brian for being such good friends and for welcoming us into their 'Dog World', if we can't wait for another helping of happiness, then we know where to find them!

Yours Hopefully
Marie & Bill xx

We are repeating our Champion of Champions initiative throughout our summer shows, and so the first chance to win a golden envelope will be at Priors Marston on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May 2014.  Here is a link to the page which lists all of our summer shows (there may be one more to add in), detailing the qualifying classes at each event.
