What we offer

First of all, everybody involved with Heart of England Dog Shows works on a completely voluntary basis.

We can organise an indoor or outdoor dog show as either a stand-alone event, or, as part of a larger activity such as a festival or fete.  Within this context we have two basic offerings which we can adapt to suit your particular requirements.  We will work with you to develop the most appropriate approach, format and content for your dog show.  Our offerings comprise:

Firstly, a Companion Dog Show (CDS) held under Kennel Club (KC) rules and regulations, which we can tailor to your needs – for example, one ring or two, classes to suit your requirements etc.  Our Companion shows usually take the form of between 4 and 11 pedigree classes complemented by a selection of novelty fun classes (we would usually recommend an overall maximum of 26 scheduled classes).  We will include KC Companion Dog Club classes if required, and if these are included, require participants to provide their dog’s CDC membership number.  We have an established system for the booking in and registration process which is required at KC licensed Companion Dog Shows, and will prepare and utilise the documentation necessary to manage a CDS.  We can also provide a sturdy table with a non-slip surface, which can comfortably accommodate the larger table dogs as they are judged in the ring.

Or, we can also organise a less formal Fun Dog Show, usually of between 16 and 26 fun classes in one ring; our usual approach for these events is to operate a ‘pay in the ring’ system, which cuts down on paperwork and form filling!

At both our Companion and Fun shows, we usually include a fancy dress class, often on a themed basis – for example, in the past we’ve run shows along the following themes – Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, Spring, Circus, Seaside, Farming, Allotments, Gardening, the London Olympics, Scarecrows, Hospitals, Pantomime, Superheroes, British Weather, UK Forces, Festivals, Holidays, the Oscars, Summer, Carnival, Winter Wonderland, Sports, British Villages, Fairy Tales, Magic, Pink, Star Wars and the Countryside.  An up coming theme is Butterflies, and we are are repeating several of those already mentioned at future shows.

We can prepare schedules and A4 posters (including printing within reason), and will also publicise each show – this may be on various relevant internet sites and forums and/or handing out schedules at other shows we may attend as organisers or participants. We are able to provide and construct the ring(s) (on grass or a hard surface/indoors) and have a Public Address system with wireless microphones – so everybody knows exactly what’s going on at all times!  We can organise judges, stewards and administrators, and can arrange appropriate insurance for KC licensed Companion Dog Shows if required (Heart of England Dog Shows would not fund this insurance however).

We can also arrange for rosettes and prizes (tailored to your requirements) to be ordered, although Heart of England Dog Shows would not generally fund these items.

The best way to describe our service is that, as long as a suitable location is made available to us within our geographical area (generally ‘The Midlands’), we can prepare and run a dog show ‘out of a box’ as required.

Areas and activities we don’t usually cover include arranging major sponsorship, booking the venue, catering, rubbish collection and disposal, car park marshalling, the provision of seating, wet weather cover at outdoor shows, arranging insurance for non-KC licensed Fun Dog Shows (at larger events the overall organisers must cover the insurance requirements relating for a fun dog show; at Companion Dog Shows we will organise the Kennel Club's insurance offering if required) and rest room arrangements.
